SHELTER FOR PATIENT ATTENDANTS

Shelter for Patient Addentants

The Patient Attendants Shelter at the DHQ Teaching Hospital is a remarkable initiative of Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur AJK (AFOBI) that truly prioritizes the well-being of caregivers and families of hospitalized patients. The shelter, inaugurated by Sardar Tanveer Ilyas, Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, represents a transformational shift in how healthcare facilities support not just the patients but also their loved ones. It’s a project that’s had a significant impact, and its success has set a model for other hospitals in Azad Kashmir.

The fact that Anjuman Falah-o-Behbood-e-Insaniat Mirpur AJK (AFOBI) took the initiative to create a safe, hygienic, and comfortable space for patient attendants highlights the empathy and understanding of the challenges these caregivers face. Often, family members and attendants are left to struggle with inadequate accommodation, resulting in added stress, fatigue, and financial strain. Providing them with a space to rest, refresh, and stay close to their loved ones without the concern of shelter costs is an invaluable contribution.

This initiative also improves patient care significantly. When attendants are well-rested and comfortable, they are in a much better position to offer the emotional and physical support that patients need during their recovery. It creates a more compassionate healthcare environment, which ultimately leads to better outcomes for everyone involved.

The Prime Minister‘s support and the praise for the project from both him and other stakeholders underscore its importance. This shelter project serves as a model for future healthcare developments, and it’s exciting to hear that plans are in place to replicate it across other hospitals in Azad Kashmir.
