The Anjuman Falah-o-Bahbood-e-Insaniat (AFOBI), a registered non-profit organization based in Mirpur, Azad Jammu & Kashmir, has proudly marked significant milestones in its ongoing mission to serve humanity; achieving more than 168,000 free dialysis sessions for underprivileged kidney patients since the establishment of its Free Kidney Dialysis Center in 2003.
Operating under the slogan “Serving Humanity,” AFOBI has become a symbol of compassion and commitment, ensuring that no patient suffering from kidney failure is denied treatment due to financial hardship.
“Our journey began with a single dialysis machine and a dream to save lives,” said Dr. Tahir Mahmood, President of AFOBI. “Today, we operate with 28 dialysis machines, providing round-the-clock services in three shifts — a testament to what community-driven care can achieve.”
Key Milestones Achieved:
- 168,000+ Free Dialysis Sessions successfully completed since 2003.
- 28 Dialysis Machines operating in collaboration with Divisional Headquarters Teaching Hospital, Mirpur AJK.
- 50 Dialysis Sessions Daily on average, fully free of cost for patients in need.
- Expansion of Patient Support Programs including free ambulance services, hepatitis vaccination, and medical aid.
- Active involvement of volunteers and community donors from both Pakistan and the overseas Kashmiri community.
Beyond kidney care, AFOBI continues to lead several community welfare initiatives, including tree plantation drives, public health awareness programs, and support for patient attendants through the AFOBI “Patient Shelter Home” near the hospital premises.
